Leioa Waterpolo is a young club, with only twelve years of history, but it has gradually grown up until becoming one of the references in Basque water polo.

It currently has almost 120 players forming a total of 10 teams, of which 3 are absolute: two of them feminine and the other one masculine. The women's first squad, champion of Basque Country's League in 2006/07 and 2008/09 seasons, and after playing in First Division of Spanish League in 2009/10 campaign, returns to the second level of Spanish water polo this 2011/12 season, after winning Spain’s Championship of Second Division last 2010/11 campaign. On the other hand, the second feminine team plays in Basque Country’s League, and the men's team takes part in First Division of Basque Country's League.

Furthermore, Leioa Waterpolo has always supported its reserve. Nowadays our club has 7 teams in lower categories: female and male under-18, male under-16 and female and male under-14, which play in Basque Country's League, and female and male under-12 teams, which use to take part in some tournaments during the season. This teams are result of the club’s reserve, because it has a water polo academy whose aim is to train future players.

Children from six to eight have their place in Leioa Waterpolo club too, as they are the main stars in the mini-water polo training sessions that take place every Friday. There, they play games in the pool, acquiring aquatic skills and working their psychomotricity.

Leioa Waterpolo does its trainings and plays its matches in Sakoneta swimming pool, in the center of Leioa. Its ancient and nice facilities are well-known by the vibrant atmosphere that prevails during the matches, thanks to the probably loudest and most committed supporters of Basque water polo. Moreover, the women’s first team plays Spanish League games in Askartza pool, also in Leioa.
